$190,000 awarded to broaden impact of ɬ’s social sciences and humanities research
Five ɬ researchers have been awarded more than $190,000 in Connection Grants by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The awards are part of $2.5 million in federal funding invested in 85 projects nationwide.
Lara Khoury appointed as ɬ’s new Associate Vice-President, Research
Research + Innovation (R+I) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Lara Khoury of the Faculty of Law as Associate Vice-President, Research (AVPR). Professor Khoury’s three-year term began on January 1, 2024. She succeeds Professor Debra Titone, Full Professor in the Department of Psychology and Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Language & Multilingualism, who has served in the role of AVPR since 2021.

Professor Dominique Bérubé has been appointed the next Vice-President (Research and Innovation). Professor Bérubé’s five-year renewable term will begin on July 1, 2024.

RE$EARCH Infosource Inc., a research, consulting, and publishing firm specializing in policy, research, business intelligence and analysis on science, technology, innovation in Canada, recently released Canada's Top 50 Research Universities List and the Research Universities of the Year (RUY) lists for 2023. ɬ is among the three top Medical/Doctoral Research Universities of the Year, in second place behind the University of Toronto and ahead of McMaster University.

More than $900,000 for genomically-driven sustainable agriculture research at ɬ
On December 12, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, announced an investment of $41 million for genomics research under Genome Canada's Genomics Applications Partnership Program (GAPP). Over $23 million will be invested in genomics in Québec, including $5.4 million through Génome Québec.
