Importantly\, these effects appea r to be determined by the contexts bilinguals find themselves in\, and the opportunities they have to use\, and control between\, their languages. T hese observations have shifted the field towards abandoning categorical de finitions of bilingualism and treating bilingualism as a continuous\, cogn itively challenging experience\, and have led to the emergence of several influential models. This has also raised an important question- how do we follow up on this work? Do we need to explore different domains\, types of experience\, moderating factors\, behavioural and neuroimaging methodolog ies\, all of the above? In this talk I will present recent\, ongoing and p lanned work from my lab\, including a recent proposal on how to study the effects of bilingualism on progressive neurological conditions\, a new pro posed approach to studying the effects of linguistic distance\, and some i nitial thoughts about neuroplasticity and language attrition.\n\nWhen: May 29\, 2026\, 11am\n\nWhere: CRBLM seminar room (2001 ɬ﷬ College Ave.\, 6th floor\, room 606) and online via Teams\n\nRegistration is appreciated .
