AI tool pinpoints cells driving aggressive cancers

ɬ�﷬ researchers have developed an artificial intelligence tool that can identify small groups of cells most responsible for driving aggressive cancers.

The tool, called SIDISH, offers scientists a clearer path to designing targeted therapies by showing which cells inside a tumour are most strongly linked with poor patient outcomes, rather than treating all cancer cells as if they behave the same way.

Dr. Saunders is an occupational therapist whose clinical background involved working with individuals with work disability resulting from a musculoskeletal injury. She has been the OT Associate Director since 2014.

Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) president-elect, Sarah Marshall, recently opened a new exhibit at ɬ�﷬’s Maude Abbott Medical Museum. ‘Sparks and Waves: The use of electricity, light and sound in physiotherapy’ explores the history and evolution of these techniques in therapy. The exhibit displays machines housed in the ɬ�﷬ School of Physical and Occupational Therapy during the mid 20th century. The exhibit opened September 28th, and is a permanent exhibit at the Museum.

Dr. Isabelle Gagnon, Assistant Professor at SPOT, has been awarded a CIHR Team Grant to develop the “Canadian Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Research Consortium”. The goal of this new research group is to improve the delivery of health care to Canadians with TBI from coast to coast, and also in a global context, by and with scientists, patients and public health leaders. Dr. Gagnon has also been named Lead on the Trauma Strategic Group, an integral part of REPAR’s Scientific Council / Conseil scientifique.
