 tive LearningĀ is working in collaboration with Alzheimerā€™s care consultant
  and facilitatorĀ Claire Webster\, and with geriatricianĀ Dr. Olivier Beauch
 etĀ from the RUIS ɬĄļ·¬ Centre of Excellence on Longevity\, to offer commu
 nity-focused workshops. Together\, this dedicated group has the knowledge\
 , experience\, skills and infrastructure necessary to host and deliver wor
 kshops with the goal of educating and supporting caregivers who are lookin
 g after a family member with Alzheimer's disease or a dementia related ill
 ness.\n\nThe overall objective of theĀ Dementia Education and Support Works
 hop for Family CaregiversĀ is to provide family caregivers with an overview
  of dementia-related disorders and an understanding of how the disease wil
 l compromise their loved oneā€™s ability to perform everyday tasks as it pro
 gresses. This workshop will focus on the most important elements that care
 givers need to know regarding dementia and its associated behavioural and 
 psychological symptoms. It will include a theory component to help family 
 members prepare themselves for the journey of caring for someone who has t
 he disease\, including best practices for ensuring their own well-being as
  caregivers. It will also include a mock scenario that will take place in 
 the simulated apartment to educate caregivers on how to create a safe home
  environment. Topics covered will include: the use of phones and computers
 \; administrative tasks\; the use of kitchen appliances\; meal preparation
 \; dressing\, grooming and bathing\; and household chores.Ā \n\nThrough edu
 cation and empowerment\, this workshop will help support caregivers and pr
 ovide them with the necessary resources to turn to in the community for su
 pport. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss medical informati
 on with geriatrician Dr. Olivier Beauchet and to meet Claire Webster\, who
  will share her personal caregiver journey and key learnings. Participants
  will also meet and network with other caregivers.\n\nIf you are intereste
