To register for the online session\, please use the Microsof t Forms link:Participants that are not part of the ɬÀï·¬ Community are al so invited to register with the Microsoft Forms link.In this 2-hour worksh op\, we will provide a brief introduction to Statistics using R. We will s tart by presenting key features of the dplyr package in R – this will incl ude data frame filtering\, variable manipulation\, merging of data frames\ , and handling of missing data. Subsequently\, we will delve into two clas sic statistical models: the linear regression model and the logistic regre ssion model. We will analyze the assumptions underlying each model and exp lore their limitations. Finally\, we will explore statistical testing and experimental design concepts. By the end of this workshop\, the student wi ll be able to:Manipulate datasets using the base-R syntax as well as the s yntax of the dplyr package.Perform a multiple linear regression model and understand its power and limitations.Perform a logistic regression model f or binary classification.Understand the fundamentals behind statistical te sting and study design. Prerequisites:Students must have the experience of a beginner R user (including installing packages\, plotting\, and basic h andling of data frames)Some notions of Statistics and/or Probability equiv alent to an undergrad course are recommended**IMPORTANT NOTICE: Attendance for ɬÀï·¬ graduate students and postdoctoral fellows is subsidized by Gr aduate and Postdoctoral Studies. All other attendees such as undergraduate students\, interns and/or graduate students from other institutions are r equired to purchase a ticket to cover organizational and staffing costs. T o complete your registration\, you must e-transfer $10 (undergraduate stud ent/trainee) $25 (staff) or $100 (faculty) to workshop-micm [at] mcgill.ca within 24 hours of RSVP'ing to this event. If we do not receive your e-tr ansfer\, you will have given up your spot. DTSTART:20260619T170000Z DTEND:20260619T190000Z LOCATION:CA\, Montreal\, Sherbrooke 550\, Room 189\, 550 R.
