2025 AMR Centre Studentships and Fellowships
for Collaborative Research

The ɬÀï·¬ AMR Centre is pleased to announce the 2025 call for applications to the AMR Collaborative Research Studentship for ɬÀï·¬ graduate students (MSc/PhD) and Fellowship for ɬÀï·¬ postdoctoral trainees. The goal of this support is to foster collaborative research between members of the AMR Centre by providing partial support for a full-time trainee.

Eligibility: Applicants from all faculties and departments at ɬÀï·¬ are eligible to apply. Trainees must be supervised by a member of the AMR Center and be involved in a collaborative project with at least one other AMR Centre principal investigator. Projects must address a topic directly relevant to AMR, with priority given to those that address one of the Centre’s three main themesÌýof 1) diagnostics, 2) evolution, surveillance and prevention strategies, or 3) therapeutics. Topics may include but are not limited to the epidemiology of AMR and antimicrobial use, mechanisms or evolution of AMR, discovery, development or implementation of new preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic or stewardship approaches.

Value and duration of the award: 10,000 for graduate studentship; $15,000 postdoctoral fellowship for one year (non renewable).

2025-2026 Studentship/Fellowship Winners Ìý

Congratulations to three collaborative research studentships awarded to PhD students Tiffany Feng under primary supervisor Lyle Whyte (Natural Resource Sciences) and Jennifer Ronholm primary supervisor (Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry/Animal Science); PhD student Anirudh Mantri under primary supervisor Martin Schmeing (Biochemistry) and co-supervisor Chris Thibodeaux (Chemistry); and, James Iarocci under primary supervisor Shuaiqi Guo (Anatomy and Cell Biology) and co-supervisor Dao Nguyen (Medicine).

We are also pleased to announce the collaborative research fellowship awarded to postdoctoral fellow Chenxiao Liu under primary supervisor Frigon (Civil Engineering) and co-supervisor Jesse Shapiro (Microbiology & Immunology). We look forward to seeing the results at the 2026 Annual Symposium!
