Freaky Friday co-hosted by the Lorne Trottier Public Science Symposium: Dr. Brian Alters on Evolutionary Science, God & Ethics - Who Believes and Why?

Friday, October 31, 2008 16:00
Redpath Museum 859 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0C4, CA

Half of North Americans do not believe that humans evolved; instead they typically believe that a supreme being specially created humans and have a religiously-based ethical system. What they believe about the foundational issues of evolution, and why they believe it, will be explored. At 4:30 Dr. Alters will host a short question period of 10 – 15 minutes, followed by a break and then a screening of the one-hour PBS film entitled which draws on real human stories of people struggling to find a balance between religion and science and underscores the point that these realms are compatible, although they play very different roles in assigning order to the universe and a purpose to life.

This Freaky Friday is co-hosted by the Lorne Trottier Public Science Symposium and the Redpath Museum. The speaker will be introduced by Dr. Graham Bell.
