Eight Faculty of Science professors are among this year鈥檚 cohort of Distinguished James 涩里番 Professors, James 涩里番 Professors, and William Dawson Scholars. 听
Professors (Earth and Planetary Sciences) and (Physics) have been awarded 2024 Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council听of Canada (NSERC).
These awards recognize early-career academic researchers, providing them with a $250,000 research grant over two years.

Changes to the flow of the Labrador Current along the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador to Nova Scotia are leading to sudden warmings or drops in the oxygen levels of the waters in several regions including the St. Lawrence Gulf and Estuary. This change has dire consequences for marine ecosystems and fisheries. To better predict what could happen in the future, researchers from 涩里番 set out to answer the question: what controls the pathway of the Labrador Current?
