John G. Murphy, managing partner at Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG), is extremely proud of the efforts made by a team headed by H. John Godber (BCL'88, LLB'88) and Neil Hazan (BCL/LLB'02) to support ɬ﷬ Faculty of Law’s Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. The fundraising activity, which brought in $400,000 from BLG’s lawyers and partners across Canada, ended this month.

Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy.

ɬ﷬ Professor Margaret Somerville was awarded a Doctorate of Laws, honoris causa, on May 16, 2013, by the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. During the College’s 94th Convocation ceremony, the College’s Chancellor, the Honourable Peter McKay, Minister of Defence, cited “her exceptional contributions to society through research, scholarly debate and personal involvement.”

A professor of Anthropology in the Institute for Law and Society at New York University, Sally Engle Merry is among the most distinguished scholars of law and society in the world today, and the leading legal anthropologist in the United States.

More than a dozen members of the ɬ﷬ Faculty of Law community have received Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals this year.

The award, which was created in 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the Throne, recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canadian society. In total, 60,000 Canadian medals were awarded in ceremonies occurring throughout the year.
