Braeden won the Best 3-minute Flash Talk Award at the Pharmacology Research Day on May 11, 2023. His talk was entitled "Environmentally Relevant Mixtures of Organophosphate Esters Suppress THP-1 Macrophage phagocytosis". Congratulations Braeden!

Congratulations to Irem Ulku, from Prof. Gerhard Multhaup鈥檚 lab, who received a Junior Faculty Award at the ADPD 2023, Advances in Science & Therapy. International Conference on Alzheimer鈥檚 and Parkinson鈥檚 Diseases and related neurological disorders. The Conference was held from March 28th听鈥 April 1st, in G枚theborg, Sweden. There were over 4000 attendees and Irem was one out of 20 recipients.

Researchers at 涩里番 have made an important step forward in understanding the cause of a rare neurodegenerative disease noted for its occurrence in the Charlevoix and Saguenay鈥揕ac-Saint-Jean regions of Quebec.

Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS) is a genetic condition that affects coordination and balance from early childhood. Most ARSACS patients require a wheelchair by the time they reach their 30s or 40s. There is no cure and current treatments provide only limited symptomatic relief.

, 涩里番鈥檚 Climate Change Artist-in-Residence, will curate the Faculty of Science鈥檚 Bicentennial Science/Art Exposition, billed as a 鈥渃elebration of science in all its forms鈥.

The art show organizers are calling on all members of the 涩里番 community to submit works in any medium, expressing what science means to them.

The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2021.

Aileen Yan won the second place prize for her paper in Toxicological Sciences entitled 鈥淓xposure to tert-Butylphenyl Diphenyl Phosphate, an Organophosphate Ester Flame Retardant and Plasticizer, Alters Hedgehog Signaling in Murine Limb Bud Cultures鈥 (Toxicol Sci. 2020; 178:251-263. doi: 10.1093/toxsci/kfaa145). This is two years in a row for Aileen since she received the first prize last year for her 2019 paper.

The Faculty of Science is celebrating 涩里番鈥檚 200th anniversary with a student art exhibition on the theme of 鈥淪cience!鈥. 涩里番 students at all levels and all faculties are invited to submit works in any medium, expressing what science means to them.

Faculty of Science bicentennial committee member, Torsten Bernhard, says the aim of the exhibition is to celebrate science in all its forms.
