ɬ﷬ has become a Full Member of the expanded network of TRIUMF, Canada’s national particle accelerator. ɬ﷬ has been involved in TRIUMF-led activities for several decades and has held associate membership since 2013.

TRIUMF constructed parts of the Large Hadron Collider that ultimately produced Higgs bosons. The co-discovery was made by the ATLAS experiment, and ɬ﷬ played a key role in the development of the experiment's trigger system.

HBHL is partnering again withɬ﷬'s Branches on the 2023 edition of the (Indigenous Mentorship and Paid Research Experience for Summer Students (IMPRESS)program.

The IMPRESS program aims to provide Indigenous students at the early stages of their academic career with meaningful experience and skills through mentorship, training sessions, and paid work under the supervision of a ɬ﷬ professor.

In an announcement made Wednesday, Canada’s leading research ranking organization, RE$EARCH Infosource, scored ɬ﷬ second among an A-list of three in the Medical/Doctoral Research University of the Year (RUY) tier. ɬ﷬ was ranked third on RE$EARCH Infosource’s list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities in 2022, a position the University has maintained for four years. These distinctions reflect, in part, ɬ﷬'s strength in attracting research funding and the strong publishing record of the school's professors.

ɬ﷬’s Board of Governors has extended the current appointment of ProfessorMarthaCrago as Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation) for a one-year period, from June 30, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

The extension will ensure stable leadership of the Research and Innovation portfolio during the upcoming Principal and Vice-Chancellor transition and allow the new Principal to actively participate in selecting Professor Crago’s successor.

Alzheimer’s disease is a disorder characterized by abnormalities in several different biological areas.

A study carried out by HBHL-funded researcher Yasser Iturria-Medina and his research group, in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at The Neuro, represents the first and largest multimodal data collection effort to date for Alzheimer’s disease.

This work represents the most significant effort so far to classify Alzheimer's disease from a multi-level molecular perspective.

Neurotransmitters are chemicals brain cells use to communicate. They work together with matching receptors on the cell surface to drive brain activity. However, we don’t fully understand how the distribution of these receptors varies region by region throughout the brain, nor what effect they have on brain function.
