The Consortium for Research, Innovation and Transformation of Agri-food (RITA), in collaboration with the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology (CIFST) Qu茅bec Section, is launching a Storyboard Competition to popularize food science research and promote the students who carry it out.

As part of their technology watch, food manufacturing and processing professionals are always particularly keen to learn about the latest innovations and scientific advances that could be adopted. We therefore invite you to use your creativity to propose your interpretation and solutions to the various challenges of health, sustainability and circularity of food products on one of the following topics:

  • New ingredients to reduce sugar, saturated fat, salt and increase fiber content
  • Zero waste packaging听and circular economy solutions to reduce pressure on natural resources and environment
  • Adding value to by-products for听more sustainable foods
  • Consumer perception and healthy food labelling

Do you want to be noticed by future employers or stand out from your peers in a creative and constructive way? This competition is for you!

500$ Second place
250$ Third place

Prizes will we awarded to the top 3 teams in the form of a gift card or a student award.

People's Choice Award

A People鈥檚 Choice Award will also be presented to the poster that receives the highest number of votes from visitors of the 35th CIFST Suppliers' Show. The winner of the People鈥檚 Choice will receive a gift basket filled with products and merchandise provided by participating CIFST suppliers. Only the top 5 posters will be selected to present at the Supplier's Night kiosk.

How to participate

  1. Register听by completing the before April 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

  2. Prepare your infographic poster (storyboard, flowchart, diagram, or other) on one of the four topics above.

  3. Submit your poster (PDF format), along with the required supporting documents, by April 12, 2026, 11:59 p.m., to consortiumrita [at] mcgill.ca
