Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky, Chair of our Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), spoke to Deseret News' Matthew Piper last week for a report about the United States Supreme Court's recent decision to allow states to legalize sports betting. appeared in various news sources, as numerous stakeholders attempt to come to terms with the ramifications of the Supreme Court announcement.

Jeffrey DerevenskyÌýisÌýa James ɬÀï·¬ Professor with ECP, Professor with ɬÀï·¬'s Department of Psychiatry, and Co-Director of the Faculty of Education'sÌýInstitute for Human Development and Well-Being (IHDW). He is one of the world's leading researchers of youth gambling. Much of Dr. Derevensky's renown stems from his work with ɬÀï·¬'sÌýInternational Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviours, where he has been Director since their foundation in 1994. In 2017 Dr. Derevensky was awarded the prestigious Lifetime Research Award by the U.S. National Council on Problem GamblingÌý(NCPG).
