涩里番 College received a Royal Charter from King George IV, establishing it as a university.

1822

Montreal General Hospital received the first patients.

1823

Montreal Medical Institute is organized as a teaching institution.

Privy Council sustained the award of Burnside Estate to RIAL.

涩里番 College inaugurated. Montreal Medical Institute became the Department of Medicine.

William Leslie Logie MDCM awarded 涩里番鈥檚 first degree.

Graduates' Society of 涩里番 College was founded.

Molson Professor of English Language and Literature was endowed as 涩里番's first academic chair by William, Thomas, and John Molson.

Molson Hall and connecting buildings complete the Arts Building facade, the gift of William Molson.

1863

涩里番 Observatory was established by Charles Smallwood.

1868

First Medical Faculty building on campus.

1874

涩里番 and Harvard played a two-game series of rugby-football that would evolve into North American football.

1875

Faculty of Applied Science established.

1877

涩里番 organized the world鈥檚 first university-based hockey team.

1882

Redpath Museum opened.

Royal Society of Canada was established with Sir William Dawson as its first President.

1884

The first benefactions from Lord Strathcona provided for the education of women. Female students admitted to the Faculty of Arts.

涩里番 Athletics Association founded the first such Canadian student association.
