A passion for animal welfare

Although Andrea Amado doesn鈥檛 come from an agricultural background, she was drawn to farms from a young age. Originally from Argentina, she moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec with her family when she was four. Some of her earliest memories are of visiting farms and connecting with the animals, especially cows and horses. This interest eventually led her to 涩里番, where she earned a B.Sc.

Bieler School of Environment welcomes new director

The Bieler School of Environment (BSE) is thrilled to announce Professor Anthony Ricciardi as its new director, effective immediately. An expert in invasion ecology and aquatic ecosystems, Ricciardi has been a key figure at the school since 2001 and now steps up to lead.

Chandra Madramootoo: A lifetime of service to 涩里番, Macdonald Campus and the world

In 1974, Chandra Madramootoo arrived at Macdonald Campus to pursue his BSc in Agricultural Engineering. He never left.

鈥淚 loved the program. I loved the professors. I loved my courses,鈥 said Madramootoo. 鈥淚t was giving me exactly what I wanted in life. I was fulfilling a dream.鈥

Small berries, big achievements

He鈥檚 known as the king of cranberries. More than anyone else, Marc Bieler (DipAgr鈥58, BA鈥64) has contributed to Quebec鈥檚 thriving industry centred on a small red fruit with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Today, at the age of 86, this 涩里番 alumnus continues to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the family business and to give back to the community.
