Arithmetic Statistics of Elliptic Curves

📄 ABSTRACT / RÉSUMÉ

A central problem in number theory is understanding the rational and integral solutions to Diophantine equations. Elliptic curves are particularly interesting, as their solutions possess a rich structure that remains at the heart of many old open problems. While providing a general method to solve all such curves remains a significant challenge, one can instead ask what happens on average. This talk will introduce the arithmetic of elliptic curves and discuss how a statistical viewpoint leads to new results and conjectures regarding the distribution of their integral and rational points
