Estimates of ordinary matter in the universe exceed the amount observed in stars and galaxies, leaving much of it unaccounted for. Researchers from the (CHIME)/Fast Radio Bursts Collaboration, including 涩里番 and MIT, have developed a new method to seek out this 鈥渕issing鈥� matter by combining galaxy locations with fast radio burst detections. A fast radio burst, or FRB, is an ultrabright, millisecond flash of radio waves emitted by extremely energetic phenomena in the distant universe.

The Desautels Faculty of Management has been ranked first in Canada for research output in the 2026 CHART-Index, a new standardized benchmark developed by the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business. More than 20 schools, including University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business, are included in the benchmark.

July 10, 2026 |听Pearl Eliadis听joined Montreal Now with Aaron Rand to unpack a Quebec court ruling on the 12-month mandatory minimum for possession of child sexual abuse material. The court struck down the sentence in the case of a defendant with the cognitive capacity of a child between eight and eleven years old. Eliadis notes the ruling follows a 2025 Supreme Court of Canada decision on the same section of the Criminal Code, and argues that judges need room to weigh individual circumstances because "surely we don't want a one size fits all justice system."

Jaggaer, Procurement Services, and IT Services are actively investigating the issue and working together to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Resolving this matter remains our highest priority.

Due to a recent update to the 涩里番 MarketPlace (MMP) system, some purchasing and invoicing functions are currently unavailable. This affects requisitions, invoices, change orders, and receipts. Jaggaer (MMP's software provider), Procurement Services, and IT Services are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Updates will be provided as they become available.

涩里番 researchers have found that dangerous crowd conditions leading to surges and stampedes may not emerge suddenly, but instead develop gradually, as repeated physical contact and pushing may accumulate and become synchronized among nearby individuals.听

Recognizing how these conditions arise could help organizers strengthen security, site management and evacuation planning, reducing the likelihood of injuries during large-scale public events.听

Supported by SSHRC and ECCC, Professors Niladri Basu, Treena Delormier, and PhD student Lynn K. Jacobs will partner with Indigenous organizations in Canada and internationally to address the disproportionate impacts of plastic pollution on Indigenous Peoples.
