Dear students, colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the School of Religious Studies (SRS) at 涩里番, located in the beautiful city of Montreal. Home to undergraduate and graduate programs in Religious Studies, the School has been an intrinsic part of the university for many decades. Originating in the former Faculty of Divinity founded in 1948, and maintaining strong ties and friendship with the Montreal Theological College, SRS is proud to continue to educate generations of enthusiastic students and scholars.
Over the years, the School has certainly changed in many ways, adding new areas of teaching and research, responding to a more diverse, inclusive social landscape. It is exactly this combination of tradition and transformation that has made our School a unique place in North America: a School were people from various backgrounds and disciplines come together to reflect on the world鈥檚 religious traditions and address the questions that we face today, in- and outside of academe. This diversity is apparent in our student cohort: Canadian and international students from various backgrounds come to the Birks building to take our courses and explore the world of religion; a world many of our students have not experienced before.
The success of our undergraduate and graduate cohort demonstrates the enthusiasm and dedication many of our students continue to display, even long after their graduation. I hope you can join us!
