Research Master's

The Research Master's comprises 15 credits of taught material and then you must undertake full time research to complete a shorter (100-200 page) thesis that is often based upon a publication you have written. In order to perform full-time research you must find a supervisor who must agree to accept you and provide you with a stipend. It is a great introduction to research and is considered a minimum qualification to undertake professional research.

Surgical and Interventional Sciences

Core Stream: This stream provides a solid foundation in surgical and interventional research methodologies. Graduates are well-equipped to undertake their thesis and grasp them key points in this subject.

Digital Health Innovation

This stream explores the intersection of surgery and digital health technologies. Students gain expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and telehealth. Graduates are prepared for careers in the burgeoning field of digital health, including research, development, and implementation of innovative technologies.

Global Surgery

This stream focuses on surgical care delivery in low- and middle-income countries. Students gain an understanding of global health challenges and develop skills to improve surgical outcomes in underserved populations. Graduates often pursue careers in global health organizations, research, or clinical practice in resource-limited settings.

Otolaryngology - NEW

The Master of Science degree offered by the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery provides inter-disciplinary training for clinical or basic science research in Otolaryngology. Master's programs can include research on normal function and disease of head and neck structures.

Surgical Education

This stream prepares students for leadership roles in surgical education or simulation or curriculum development. The curriculum covers pedagogical theories, curriculum development, and assessment methods. Graduates are well-suited for positions in surgical and interventional departments or teaching hospitals.

Surgical Innovation

This stream fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in surgery. Students learn about medical device development, technology commercialization, and regulatory affairs. Graduates often pursue careers in the medical device industry, start-up companies, or research.

Surgical Outcomes

This stream offers a graduate-level training program focused on the science of measuring and improving the outcomes of surgical patients.
