René Provost Wins Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award

The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor René Provost, FRSC, Ad E, has been awarded the Léon-Gérin Québec Prize.

A globally recognized authority in international law, Professor Provost has made groundbreaking contributions to one of the most pressing challenges of our time: regulating the conduct of combatants in armed conflicts and enhancing protections for victims of war. His pioneering work combines rigorous legal scholarship with extensive field research in conflict zones, resulting in a prolific body of influential publications.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Provost has demonstrated unwavering dedication to concretely enhancing protections for war victims, notably through his influence in shaping international jurisprudence.

Awarded annually since 1977, the Léon-Gérin Québec Prize honours individuals whose research careers have profoundly shaped the social sciences and humanities.
