Denise Brend

Denise BrendDenise Michelle Brend, MSW, PhD is passionate about identifying and mitigating the impact that exposure to potentially traumatic experiences can have on individuals, families, professionals, and within workplaces. A social worker, psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, Denise is currently an assistant professor at Université Laval, a co-investigator with the Canadian Consortium on Trauma in Children and Adolescents, and a regular researcher at the International Centre for Comparative Criminology (CICC) and the Institut universitaire Jeunes en difficulté (IUJD). 

Current Projects

1. A SSHRC funded project to explore moral distress, organizational efforts to reduce secondary traumatic stress, and turnover intention among Canadian child and youth service providers.

2. The translation  and validation of two measures (moral distress instrument,, the Augusta scale)

3. A scoping review of digital storytelling among veterans

4. A review of trauma-informed care in Prisons
