Manipal-涩里番 Program for Infectious Diseases

The Manipal-涩里番 Program for Infectious Diseases (MAP-ID) launched on August 13, 2016. Both 涩里番 and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education have strong reputations in infectious disease research especially in the areas of TB, HIV, and malaria.聽 The goals of the program include fostering research collaborations between Manipal and 涩里番 faculty; identifying promising infectious disease researchers and trainees at and supporting them to attend the 涩里番 Summer Institute in Infectious Diseases and Global Health; identifying promising 涩里番 trainees and faculty to be under the mentorship of Manipal faculty; and establishing conferences, short courses and workshops taught jointly by Manipal and 涩里番 faculty.

Past Activities

Addis Ababa Partnership in Infectious Diseases
(AMP-ID)

In 2009, a new partnership was forged between the Department of Medicine of AAU and members of the division of Infectious Diseases at 涩里番, to implement a post-graduate sub-specialty training program in Infectious Diseases (ID) for Ethiopian physicians. This program was initially supported through charitable and industry donations, until funding was obtained from the Research Institute 涩里番 Health Centre, to include a research component. This led to a decision to formalize the partnership under the auspices of 涩里番 Global Health Programs, the JD Maclean Centre for Tropical Diseases and Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences. The partnership has been named 鈥淎ddis Ababa 鈥� 涩里番 Partnership in Infectious Diseases鈥�, or AMP-ID.

涩里番 is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. 涩里番 honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
