Our Program Mission

MIXCHEM CREATE provides a learning experience for students seeking to address critical emerging environmental health issues related to pollution. This program aims to prepare the next generation of environmental scientists with the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to better understand the challenges posed by contaminants of emerging concern, including the detection of contaminant mixtures in Canadian ecosystems and foods, as well as their potential toxicity, and develop expertise in environmental remediation techniques. Our innovative program focuses on 3 key objectives:

Technical and practical skills development

Students receive hands-on training on the practical utilisation of diverse instruments, data analysis techniques, risk assessment approaches, remediation strategies and material substitution methods. These practical trainings on the use of a new analytical or data processing technique will be in a state-of-the-art and modern training environment in collaboration with academic and/or private partners.

Mobility experience

Internships or exchange provide comprehensive learning experiences that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, thereby enhancing professional growth and employability.

Professional skills development

Students acquire diverse soft skills that will help prepare them for their future careers. For example, they develop their leadership, scientific communication and/or critical thinking skills through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary activities while fostering inclusive and equitable learning and working environments.
