Justin Sanders, MD

Dr. Justin Sanders holds the Kappy and Eric M. Flanders Chair of Palliative Care and is Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at ɬÀï·¬. He directs the Division of Palliative Care in that department the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the ɬÀï·¬ Health Centre. Dr. Sanders has a BA in Art History from Haverford College, an MD from the University of Vermont, and an MSc in Medical Anthropology, which he completed at the University College London as a US-UK Fulbright Post-graduate Scholar. Dr. Sanders completed residency and chief residency in Family and Social Medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He completed his fellowship in the Harvard Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He was a research fellow in cancer communications outcomes research and then the Associate Director of Innovation in the Serious Illness Care Program at Ariadne Labs, a joint health systems innovation center at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He founded the Centre for Relationships in Serious Illness, which aims to transform healthcare for people affected by serious illness by understanding and promoting authentic healing relationships.Ìý

Marie Solange Bernatchez, PhD

Marie-Solange Bernatchez, PhD in Clinical Psychology, Programme Psychosocial en Oncologie, Psychosocial Oncology Program, Centre universitaire de santé ɬÀï·¬, ɬÀï·¬ Helath Centre, ±«²Ô¾±³Ùé de Soins Palliatifs de l'Hôpital Royal Victoria, Palliatiave Care Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Dr. Bernatchez's teaching activities are: graduate and continuing professional education lectures and workshops. Her areas of expertise/interests are: screening for distress, sleep difficulties in cancer patients, psychological distress in patients receiving palliative care, family distress, family meetings and bereavement.Ìý

Roger Ghoche, MD

Dr. Roger Ghoche has been practicing Palliative Care medicine since 2010. He began his career at Toronto Western Hospital and Kensington Hospice (part of the University of Toronto's University Health Network). He currently practices at Mount Sinai Hospital (ɬÀï·¬ affiliated hospital), providing care on the inpatient Palliative Care Unit and in people's homes. He is an Assistant Professor at ɬÀï·¬ and Director of Clinical Method 2. Dr. Ghoche holds a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Tyndale University and is passionate about the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of his patients.

Jill Tom, RN

Jill Yu Tom is a nurse clinician specializing in palliative care. She has worked many years in home care in multiple Quebec government-run clinics (CLSCs). For over 10 years, she has been working at the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest of Montreal. In recent years, she has been working as a long-term care consultant.Ìý

Claude Cyr, MD Dr. Cyr is a family physician specialized in palliative care and is a member of the Supportive and Palliative Care Department at the ɬÀï·¬ Health Center. Dr. Cyr is specialized in the medical use of cannabinoids and participates in clinical research regarding the use of cannabis-based medicines in cancer patients. He is the lead author of the book "Cannabis and Cannabinoid-based medicines in cancer care: A comprehensive guide to medical management".
Olivia Nguyen, MD

Olivia Nguyen works in palliative medicine at CIUSSS Nord-de-±ô'ÃŽ±ô±ð de Montréal. They are Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Université de Montréal, and a Fellow of the Royal College in Palliative Medicine. They are also the president of the Quebec Society of Palliative Care Physicians.Ìý

Olivia believes in the systemic improvement of palliative care, in an interprofessional and compassionate manner, through education, training, research, partnership, policy change, and cultural changes.Ìý

Gabrielle Lemieux, M.A.P.

Gabrielle Lemieux is the senior clinical and organizational ethics advisor at the ɬÀï·¬ Health Centre (MUHC), where she has provided over 250 ethics consultations and trained dozens of clinicians across all missions and sites. She is a member of the MUHC's Organizational Ethics Advisory Council (OEAC) since 2017. She teaches medical ethics to residents of various departments of the Faculty of Medicine at ɬÀï·¬. Gabrielle is consulted by the Institut national d'excellence en santé et en services sociaux (INESSS) on various publications and collaborates with the Canadian Collective for Living Ethics.

David Wright, PhD

David Kenneth Wright is the academic lead for palliative care and nursing ethics at the Centre for Research on Health and Nursing. He holds specialty certification in hospice palliative care nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association and engaged in clinical practice in hospital-based palliative care as well as at a residential hospice. In 2021, he co-founded the Canadian Palliative Care Nursing Association. His current research projects focus on grief and grief literacy, nursing ethics, and narrative methodologies.Ìý

Silvana Barone, MD

Dr. Silvana Barone is a pediatrician with specialty training in pediatric palliative care and bioethics. She completed her pediatric residency at the CHU Sainte-Justine and then a clinical and research fellowship in pediatric palliative medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. She is currently a Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics at ɬÀï·¬ and, since 2021, the Medical Director at Le Phare, Enfants et Familles, Quebec's first pediatric hospice. Her clinical and research interests center around decision-making for children with medical complexity. She is actively engaged in teaching pediatric palliative care to students at all levels of training and an active member of the Canadian Pediatric Society's Bioethics committee.

Kyle Greenway, MD

Kyle Greenway MD MSc FRCPC is a psychiatrist and FRQS clinician-scientist at the Jewish General Hospital / Lady Davis Institute, and assistant professor of psychiatry at ɬÀï·¬. He co-leads the Psychedelics & Contemplation research lab and directs the JGH Ketamine-Therapy program for treatment-resistant depression. His work centers on psychedelic drugs: effects and mechanisms, unique methodological research considerations, and the clinical and cultural implications of their translation into real-world settings. He co-developed the Montreal Model of Ketamine-Therapy for TRD and lead the first trial to demonstrate that, in such a model, subanesthetic ketamine can yield mystical-like experiences that can lead to sustained psychiatric benefits.

Marie-Hélène Marchand, MD Dr. Marie-Hélène Marchand is a family physician specialized in palliative care. She works in palliative care at home in the CIUSSS de l'Est, at the Maisonneuve Rosemont Hospital as well as in addiction medicine and homelessness. She holds a master's degree in ethics on the subject of dying in a situation of homelessness. Dr. Marchand is also co-founder of the Mobile Home Project, funded by Healthcare Excellence Canada, which aims to provide palliative care for people experiencing homelessness in Montreal.
Amélie Bombardier

Amélie Bombardier holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology and a master’s degree in social work. She has experience working in secondary school settings and has been working at the Regional Program for the Settlement and Integration of Asylum Seekers (PRAIDA) since 2013. Since 2020, she has held positions focused on providing clinical support to practitioners at PRAIDA. She is also a trainer with the Montréal Intercultural Education and Integration Service (SEIIM).

Harvey Chang, MD Harvey Chang, MD, FRCPC completed his medical training at ɬÀï·¬ (1978 - 1983), his rotating internship and Internal Medicine Residency at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) from 1983 – 1988, as well as his Clinical Decision-Making Fellowship at Tufts University in 1990. He possesses board certification in Internal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and in Internal Medicine and in Palliative Care from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Since 1991, Dr. Chang has been an attending staff physician at the JGH (General Internal Medicine) and Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine at ɬÀï·¬. Since 2000, he has also been the Medical Team Leader of the Palliative Care Unit of the JGH.
Areti Anastassopolous, MD

Areti Anastassopoulos is the Palliative Care Nurse Consultant at the Jewish General Hospital, within the Integrated University Health and Social Services Center of West-Central Montreal (CCOMTL), a role she has held since September 2023.

Ms. Anastassopoulos earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Montreal and holds a certification in Hospice Palliative Care from the Canadian Nurses Association. With over two decades of experience in palliative care, she has contributed significantly to both clinical and leadership initiatives. Her experience includes serving as a Clinical Nurse and Resource Nurse on the Palliative Care Unit and has played a key role in the development and implementation of the Hospital-at-Home Palliative Care trajectory, which enhances the accessibility and continuity of care for patients and families.

In her current role, she also provides mentorship and educational support to nurses across various care settings within the CCOMTL network, furthering palliative care education and training initiatives.

Ariane Parent Lemay, RN

Ariane Parent-Lemay has been a clinical nurse since 2009 and currently serves as Director of Care and Allied Services at Le Phare Enfants et Familles, Québec’s first paediatric palliative care centre. She leads interdisciplinary programs and services and plays a key role in developing and implementing the organization’s new Grief and Bereavement Centre for families who have lost a child.

With a strong background in paediatric nursing, she actively contributes to the advancement of paediatric palliative care across Québec. A member of the ECHO community and a frequent speaker at professional events, including ɬÀ﷬’s CPD Day and the Québec Palliative Care Association, she has also published articles promoting the integration of a paediatric palliative care pathway for children with life-limiting conditions.

Her leadership is guided by a profound commitment to compassion, dignity, and meaning in every aspect of care.
