An Introduction to the History of Arabic Calligraphy

In honor of , ɬÀï·¬'s Student Affairs Liaison for Muslim Students, in collaboration with the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, hosted an event titled "An Introduction to the History of Arabic Calligraphy," presented by Yaser Watad, calligraphy artist, graphic designer, and Damascus University alumnus.

Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec Memorial Award

The Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec Memorial Award was established in commemoration of the 2017 massacre at the CCIQ in Quebec City. It is awarded to a ɬÀï·¬ student who has demonstrated a commitment to fostering the inclusion of Muslims within Quebec and Canadian society. Thanks in large part to the 2021 fundraising efforts of the ɬÀï·¬ Muslim Alumni Society, and a ɬÀï·¬24 match from the University, this award is now endowed to exist in perpetuity at an increased value of $3000/year! The deadline to apply is Monday, November 24. Pictured is last year's winner of the award, Khadijatu-Dimalya Ibrahim, founder of ɬÀï·¬ Black Muslim Association.

Holding Space: A Support Group for Muslim, Arab or Palestinian Students

This online support group, offered by ɬÀï·¬ Student Wellness Hub Counsellors, is a space of care and connection for Muslim, Arab, or Palestinian students navigating collective grief and suffering.

The role of Student Affairs Liaison for Muslim Students is key to ensuring that ɬÀï·¬ students who self-identify as Muslim are supported in a timely and effective way, and in a way that is centered on their success and wellness.

  • Raise awareness about Islamophobia and increase the ɬÀï·¬ community’s understanding of Islam and Muslim identities.
