Qualitative鈥痜it testing relies on the user to detect the test agent by taste to determine that there is no leakage into a respirator.听EHS uses听Bitrex听and Saccharin qualitative fit testing method for N95 respirators.听听
Please review the following information and the registration steps below.听
Target Audience:鈥� All staff and students who require the use of an听N95 Disposable鈥痳espirator while performing activities at 涩里番. This course provides Qualitative Fit Testing for鈥疦95 Disposable respirators听measure the leakage into a respirator.听This course is听not听intended for those who require fit testing for Elastomeric Reusable half-face or full-face respirators.听听
Duration:鈥� 2 hours听(approximate)听
Certification: 鈥疐it Test听certificates听are鈥� valid for听up to听2 years.鈥� A hardcopy, wallet sized certificate is provided to the participant.听
Cost:鈥� $75鈥痜or an in-person Fit Test, payable by FOAPAL.听Students鈥痬ust reach out to their department administration so that the department may provide the FOPAL directly to鈥� rpp.ehs [at] mcgill.ca (EHS Respiratory Protection Program).听

Additional Information:鈥� In order to听ensure a proper seal with the respirator, the user must be鈥痗lean shaven鈥痑nd long hair must be tied back. Facial piercings and jewelry may also need to be removed.听
Do not eat, chew gum or drink anything (other than water) in the 30 minutes prior to your fit test appointment.听
Do not听purchase any equipment prior to attending the Fit Test.鈥� EHS has听several N95 Disposable听respirator听models听available for fit testing.听If you require fit testing for a specific model of N95 respirator,鈥� you must bring a box of this听N95听model听with you to鈥痶he fit test.听
If applicable, bring any other Personal Protective Equipment you need to wear that might interfere with your respirator to the Fit Test session.听

Once you have successfully passed the exam (80%), you may register for a鈥�.听

听You must complete the鈥��痑nd return it to鈥�rpp.ehs [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Health%20Validation%20Form) 鈥� before your Fit Test appointment.听IMPORTANT: if 鈥榊es鈥� is answered to any of the questions in Section 2, then the user must have Section 3 completed by a physician before EHS is able to fit test you.听
