Born in Petr贸polis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Matheus always thought he would study to become a journalist or a writer but ultimately decided to study Physics due to its ubiquity. After graduating from the Federal University of ABC in his homeland, he moved to Montreal where he recently finished his MSc in Experimental Cosmology and started his PhD jointly in Nano biophysics.
Matheus has worked with a social entrepreneurship organization, Enactuson a project called Alfatech to help solve child illiteracy in communities. He also founded the first-ever Brazilian team to participate in the International Physicists' Tournament, and following that, created lectures to encourage people to become physicists.
At OSE, as a Science Education Fellow, Matheus brings excitement to the projects he鈥檚 involved in and learns a lot during these processes. He hopes this will all help him become a better instructor further on in his career.
