Medical museums provoke strong emotional responses鈥攔esponses that sharpen in the presence of human remains, now widely characterized as听uncomfortable听or as听difficult听collections. Collections of听uncomfortable remains听compel medical museums to reflect critically on their pasts and to confront the difficult choices woven into practices of care, interpretation, and display.
