Phoela Health Inc., co-founded by Reza Abbasi, PhD, and Prof. Sebastian Wachsmann-Hogiu, has won the Emerging Start-Up Award at the ADRIQ Gala 2025. Phoela鈥檚 biosensing technology was developed during Abbasi's PhD and advanced in his postdoctoral research in 涩里番鈥檚 Department of Bioengineering, mentored and financially supported by 涩里番 Engine鈥檚 Chwang Seto Innovation Fellowship Program.

The Golden Violin Award was established in 2006 by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, a year after he donated $20 million to 涩里番鈥檚 Schulich School of Music. Made of pewter and gold plate, the Golden Violin remains on permanent display in 涩里番鈥檚 Marvin Duchow Music Library. This year marks the monumental 20th edition of the Golden Violin Award.聽

A new study found that variations in the brain鈥檚 insulin receptor network affect how women respond to early-life adversity. This effect has a lesser impact in men, suggesting there is a sex-specific process at play.
